(I received tickets to Water Works Park as part of my partnership with USFamilyGuide. All opinions are my own.)
Denton has a fun water park with a brand new wave pool! Water Works Park is located at 2400 Long Rd, Denton Tx 76207. The wave pool had it's grand opening July 1st and it's a great addition to a moderately sized water park. All 3 of my kids (aged 7, 9, and 11) along with mom and dad enjoyed the wave pool as well as the lazy river.
*The wave pool.*
*The lazy river. Not pictured - fun little attractions on the lazy river like a small waterfall, bubblers, and an arch that sprays water. You can see here a covered picnic table area that is perfect for taking a lunch or snack break.*
The 7 year old couldn't get enough of the play pool while the big kids (that includes dad) checked out the big slides. The play pool is geared to the preschool and early elementary set with smaller (but fast!) slides, spray cannons, and lots of fun feature to explore. Even the big kids enjoyed the colorful equipment in the play pool area when they took a break from the slides.
*The Play Pool. You can see the beach cabanas in the background that are available to rent.*
*Some of the big slides.*
Admission to Water Works Park includes admission to the natatorium during public swim hours. We had so much fun outside we didn't get to check out the natatorium but hope to next time.
There are lots of loungers and quite a few tables with chairs all under shade canopies. Coolers are allowed so families can bring lunch and make a whole day out of playing in the water.
*Water Works Park provides lots of shaded areas.*
If you left your cooler at home the Pineapple Delight concession stand offers lots of items to choose from (churros, pizza, hamburgers, etc). The Hula Hut also sells snacks, useful items like sunscreen, sunglasses, and towels, and keys to the handy lockers.
*Lockers in the shade so your items stay secure in a reasonable temperature. It was a snug fit for our stuffed backpack but it did fit. It was great not worrying about our car keys and phones. The locker key was attached to a stretchy plastic coil that fit comfortably on my wrist.*
Cost of admission for 48 inches and taller is $17 ($19 for nonresidents); under 48 inches $13 ($15 for nonresidents); the non-swimmer fee is $5; and children 2 and under are free. Reentry is allowed, so be sure to hold on to your receipt and keep your wristband on if you leave the park but want to return the same day. Admission is discounted Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 pm. for "Flashback Fun." Group discounts as well as monthly and season passes are also available. Parking is free and locker rental is only $3. For more information go to - Water Works Park | Voted Best in Denton County
